Scarlett Johansson (born November 22 1984 New York City New York, U.S.) American actor and performer whose performance range earned her popular acclaim in a variety of genres ranging from period drama to thrillers and action. Johansson is the daughter of a filmmaker and an architect. She was raised by New York City. Her twin brother Hunter were the youngest of four siblings. She began to develop an interest in acting from a very young age, and began auditioning for commercials at age seven. She enrolled in the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute shortly after, and later went to the Professional Children's School, Manhattan to continue her training. When she was eight years old, Johansson starred alongside Ethan Hawke as Sophistry in Off-Broadway productions. And at age nine, she debuted in Rob Reiner's North (1994).
